Chrism:
A blessed and perfumed holy oil that is used to anoint a person at their Baptism and Confirmation, and again in the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. Also called “myron.” (1320)
Oil of Catechumens:
A holy oil which a person is anointed with before they are Baptized as a sign of their renunciation, or denial, of Satan and sin. A catechumen is a person who is preparing for Baptism.
Profession of Faith:
A public statement of belief made by the faithful during Sunday Masses and Holy Days of Obligation. It can either be the Nicene Creed, the Apostles’ Creed, or a renewal of baptismal promises.
