Integrated Science

In the classical liberal arts tradition, the study of the biological and physical sciences focuses on developing a deep understanding of the order of creation through observation and contemplation. Students are encouraged to cultivate precise observational habits and to ask questions through experimentation. Through these methods, children learn to appreciate and understand the natural world more deeply.

Middle school science builds on this cultivation of wonder of the universe as students develop a deeper understanding of its laws and the scientific fields of study devoted to its order: physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, geology, and astronomy.

As students advance into the middle school logic stage of development, they are introduced to a more structured approach to scientific inquiry. This progression entails transitioning from basic observation and description to more formal investigations, wherein students are encouraged to formulate hypotheses and establish methods for testing their ideas. The goal is to equip students with a strong foundation to pursue further studies in secondary school advanced placement courses in physics, biology, and chemistry.
